Programs & Services

• The CPCA supports an inclusive competency-based model. This includes skills training, professional experience and natural abilities. Prospective members are also reviewed through a criminal record check, submitting references from recognized mental health practitioners and writing a qualifying exam. The CPCA’s membership represents a diverse scope and range of counselling related educational backgrounds (PhD, MA, BA and diplomas) in valid forms of counselling psychology.
• CPCA is a national non-profit association registered in accordance with the Canada Corporations Act and permits members to identify themselves as “Registered Professional Counsellors” (RPC) and holds them accountable to the Association and to the public through a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and its complaints, investigation and discipline procedures.
